Each municipality in the GAL - Camporotondo Etneo, San Pietro Clarenza, San Giovanni La Punta, Mascalucia, and Tremestieri Etneo - preserves precious historical and cultural landmarks: from the Baroque churches of San Giovanni La Punta to the noble palaces of Mascalucia. The lava stone architecture, a distinctive feature of the region, tells the profound connection between the people and the volcano.

The local gastronomic tradition is expressed through typical products such as Etna I.G.P. lemons, Etna D.O.P. cherries, Etna D.O.P. prickly pears, olives, and aromatic herbs that grow on the volcanic soils. The festivals and food and wine events held in the various municipalities of the GAL allow visitors to taste these products and immerse themselves in the still-living, authentic local traditions.
